An Omegle alternative that keeps what worked

The classic one-button stranger chat closed in 2023. MonkeyTV keeps the part people loved, one tap and a new face, and fixes the rest: real profiles, a report button that works, and real room controls.

What to look for

Six things a good alternative must have

  • One tap, one person

The thing people miss most: press a button and a new face appears. MonkeyTV keeps it, in video or in text.

  • Real people, not bots

The people you meet have profiles with photos, a country and languages, and are online when you are matched.

  • A report button that works

Report and block from the call screen or any profile. Reports are reviewed by a moderation team.

  • Room controls

Next, Stop, mute and camera switch on screen. Leave any conversation the moment it stops being good.

  • Browser only

No download. It runs on iPhone, Android and desktop, and asks for the camera once.

  • Adults only

MonkeyTV is for people 18 and over, and the community rules are enforced.

Why it closed, what changed

The idea was right. The room was not.

Random one-tap chat worked because it was instant and surprising. What broke it was everything around the button: no accounts, so no accountability; no moderation that kept up; and, in the last years, more bots than people. An alternative has to keep the instant part and rebuild the room.

That is the design of MonkeyTV. The button is still one tap. Behind it are people with profiles who are online when you are matched, a report button that reaches a moderation team, block that is permanent, and mute, Next and Stop on the call screen. It is for adults only, and it runs in the browser on any device.

FAQ

Alternative questions

Is MonkeyTV the same as Omegle?
No. MonkeyTV is an independent video chat service and is not affiliated with Omegle, which closed in November 2023. It offers the same one-tap stranger chat idea with profiles, moderation and modern room controls.
What should I look for in an alternative?
Four things: one-tap 1-on-1 matching so it feels the same; real people with profiles so you are not talking to bots; a report and block button that is actually acted on; and clear room controls such as Next and Stop.
Is it free?
Starting is free and new visitors get free video matches. Longer video calls are paid by the minute with coins, with the price shown before you connect.
Do I need an account?
No. You can start as a guest. Signing in with Google or email keeps matches, coins and messages across devices.
Can I leave a chat at any time?
Yes. Next moves to the next person and Stop ends the chat, both one tap away on the call screen. Report and block are there too.
